My morning at the Hub Incubator

I walk into the light filled space and feel as welcome as if I had walked into my own home. The smell of freshly brewed coffee wafts in from the kitchen so I head over for a cuppa. Ammon co-creates a flat white with me and we have a bit of a chat about some of the design discussions that are continuing to evolve around the space.

I am working on a new project around community owned renewable energy and really need some help around building grass roots support using social media. I decide to schedule an informal event that afternoon in the lounge area and post a message on the events board to see if I can attract interest from some of the other hub members. Nynke and Brad both point out a couple of people that might be able to help and I let them know about the afternoon event.
I walk past the papier mache animal heads on the wall (they always make me laugh) and take a seat by the window. As I sip on my coffee and look out at the crowds streaming out of Southern Cross station below I wonder how many of them could be the Hubbers of the future...

deck feet design for Hub by Nirvana

These are the discarded aluminum castings from wasted office chairs, ideal for the base and under table support for the three leaf office table design.

A centre pole can connect the three different working surfaces. These pieces came from Germaine's who are moving location from 316 St. George Road Thornbury

8 castings cost $20 with a box full of castors wheels.

lets see how they fit in with the growth of ideas

two tone knitting

This is one of my (crayola!) sketches for the knitted chairs.... two tone patterning of warm reds, oranges, and pinks, with a few yellows and blues to balance it out. Slightly inspired by Rothko. I'm keen to see if Marianne would be happy to make some prototypes of this to see how it looks. I'm meeting her this afternoon to discuss this - we welcome any comments, criticisms, and compliments!

PS - We had yummy silverbeet for dinner, fresh from Damien's garden! - I think it agrees with the colour scheme :)
