Carpets for Communities offers immediate intervention to give at risk children an education by empowering their mothers to produce eco fair trade products. Each carpet has a story of its own - currently Carpets for Communities is committed to improving the livelihoods of the poor in Poi Pet Commune, Cambodia. You can meet all the participant families on their website: www.carpetsforcommunities.org The lovely Veronica and CK from Carpets for Communities kindly dropped off some samples of their carpets to Hub Melbourne this past weekend. They are now in our lounge space (along with a feedback form - tell us what you think!) - they come in various shapes, sizes, and colours - and are made of recycled off-cuts from the cotton t-shirt manufacturing industry!
The new chairs will make their debut in the space tomorrow arvo, yay! :)

From 6:00 pm we will be painting, building more petal tables, etc. - there’ll be lots of things to do!

The awesome Damien sent us these sketches that he did with his mate Brendan of some concepts for stools that can be done quickly and economically for the Hub space. Materials include 19mm eco ply, recycled suede fabric, fittings, + eco oil. After a quick chat today between Damien, John, Ammon, and myself - Damien and Brendan will be making a prototype for us to have a look at next week! Exciting!
